AN ORDINANCE WAIVING THE REQUIREMENTS OF COMPETI'1iveip
BIDDING FOR THE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC SIGNAL COt rr,
UNDER THE INTERSECTION OF COLLEGE AVENUE AND SYGM ROO
STREET; AND, AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR INSTALLAT�ObNcQF r'o
SAID CONDUIT TO FAYETTE TREE AND TRENCH, INC.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the Board of Directors hereby waives tffe
requirements of competitive bidding for the installation of
traffic signal conduit under the intersection of College
Avenue and Sycamore Street for the reason that said require-
ments are not practical because said installation needs to
be done immediately while University students are absent and
before tourist traffic starts and because only one company has
responded to a request for quotations.
Section 2. Theb)Board of.Directors hereby awards the
contr'a'ct of,tra�fic signal conduit under
the intersectionrrof College, Avenue'arid Sycamore Street to
Fayette Tree .and, Trench .Inc ,, at 'a to't'al contract price not
to exceed $4,400.00.
Section 3. The Board'of Directors:hereby determines
that t epi immediate' installation.•of;traffic control devices
at the intersection of College Avenue and Sycamore Street
is necessary to protect the public -safety and that the
passage of this ordinance is necessary -to enable the immediate
installation of -said traffic signal.. Therefore, an emergency
is hereby declared to exist.and this ordinance being necessary
for the public health, safety,•and welfare shall be in full
force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
