AN ORDINANCE WAIVING THE REQUIREMENTS OF COM b�E /� 'D
BIDDING FOR THE INSTALLATION OF STREET LIGHTS F
JACKSON ' S FIRST ADDITION TO THE CITY OF FAYETTECi�p
r
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE , ARKANSAS :
Section 1 . The Board of Directors hereby waives the
requirements of competitive bidding for the installation of
street lights in Jackson ' s First Addition to the City of
Fayetteville for the reason that said requirements are not
"Oj practical because Southwestern Electric Power Company is
the only electric utility serving the area .
Section 2 . The Board of Directors hereby appropriates
the sum o , 775 . 17 to pay the cost of installing said
street lights and hereby authorizes the Mayor and City Clerk
to execute a contract with Southwestern Electric Power Company
for said installation .
Section 3 . The Board of Directors hereby determines
that Jacks First Addition to the City of Fayetteville is
in immediate need of street lights to preserve the safety of
vehicular and pedestrian travel ; that the safety of vehicular
and pedestrian travel is essential to the public welfare ; and
that the immediate passage of this ordinance is necessary
to preserve the safety of vehicular and pedestrian travel .
Therefore , an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this
ordinance being necessary for the public safety and welfare
shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage
and approval .
