AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 8 - 30 . 1 ( 1 ) OF THE FAYE� fI Yq
CODE OF ORDINANCES TO AMEND THE ELECTRICAL CODE TO PERMIT THE eCFgER plf.
USE OF TYPE NM OR BX CABLE IN EXISTING BUILDINGS WHERE IT WOULD
BE IMPRACTICAL TO INSTALL METAL CONDUIT .
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE , ARKANSAS :
Section 1 . That Section 8 - 30 . 1 ( 1 ) of the Fayetteville Code
of Ordinances is hereby amended to read as follows :
( 1 ) The use of NM or BX cable : shall be limited to residential
dwellings ; provided type NM or BX cables shall be permitted in
existing buildings when the City Electrical Inspector determines
that it would be impractical to install metal conduit .
Section 2 . The Board of Directors hereby determines that
adequate regulation of electrical wiring in the City is essential
to the public health , safety and welfare ; that the City ' s existing
Electrical Code does not adequately regulate electrical wiring ; and
that the adoption of this Ordinance is necessary to adequately
regulate electrical wiring in the City . Therefore , an emergency
is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance be necessary for
the public health , safety and welfare shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval .
