AN ORDINANCE WAIVING THE REQUIREMENTS OF COMPETITIVE BIDS
FOR THE PURCHASE OF A HURST RESCUE TOOL ; AND AUTHORIZING THE
PURCHASE OF A HURST RESCUE TOOL FROM AMERICAN FIRE EQUIPMENT
COMPANY , INC .
Whereas , American Fire Equipment Company , Inc . is the only
supplier of a Hurst Rescue Tool ; and
Whereas , the City of Fayetteville is in immediate need of
a Hurst Rescue Tool .
NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE , ARKANSAS :
Section 1 . That the Board of Directors hereby waives the
requirements of competitive bids for the purchase of one Hurst
Rescue Tool .
Section 2 . That the Board of Directors hereby authorizes
the purchase of a Hurst Rescue Tool and power shears therefore
from American Fire Equipment Company , Inc . , for a purchase price
of $ 5 , 132 using 1978 Revenue Sharing funds .
Section 3 . The Board of Directors hereby determines that the
City Fire Department is in immediate need of a Hurst Rescue Tool in
order to provide adequate rescue services to the citizens of the
City and hereby determines that the passage of this ordinance is
necessary to accomplish the immediate acquisition of said tool .
Therefore , an emergency is hereby declared to exist , and this
ordinance being necessary for the public safety and welfare shall
be in full force from and after its passage .
