BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE , ARKANSAS :
Section 1 . That Section 6 - 34 ( a ) of the Fayetteville Code
of Ordinances is hereby amended to read as follows :
( a ) There is hereby adopted by the Board of
Directors of the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas , by
reference thereto , the provisions set forth in the 1976
edition of the Southern Standard Building Code including
appendices " A" through "M" , save and except such portions
of said Code and appendices as may be added , deleted ,
modified , or amended ; and the provisions contained in said
Southern Standard Building Code are hereby adopted and
incorporated as fully as if set out at length herein
which provisions shall be controlling within the corporate
limits of the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas .
Section 2 . That Section 6 - 65 of the Fayetteville Code of
Ordinances is hereby repealed and reserved for future use .
Section 3 . That Section 6 - 77 of the Fayetteville Code of
Ordinances is hereby amended by redesignating Paragraphs K , L ,
M , and N to Paragraphs 11 , 12 , 13 , and 14 , respectively .
Section 4 . That Section 6 - 77 . 1 of the Fayetteville Code
of Ordinances is hereby deleted , and Section 6 - 77 . 2 is hereby
redesignated Section 6- 77 . 1 .
Section 5 . That Section 6 - 78 of the Fayetteville Code of
Ordinances is hereby amended to read as follows :
Sec . 6 - 78 . Section 807 amended .
Section 807 is hereby amended by adding Paragraph
( a ) to read as follows :
( a ) Where air ducts are used under concrete slabs ,
careful preparation of site shall be exercised to insure
a well drained and continuously dry condition .
Where air ducts are used under concrete slabs at
ground level , the air ducts shall be installed ( 1 ) so that
the bottom of the air duct will be a minimum of two ( 2 )
inches above the highest ground level of the surrounding
ground located within ten ( 10 ) feet of the structure
being built , or ( 2 ) in another manner which the local
administrative authority determines will guard against
water seepage in said ducts .
All organic materials shall be removed from under
the concrete slab .
Section 6 . That Section 6 - 79 of the Fayetteville Code
of Ordinances is hereby amended by redesignating Paragraphs
g and h to c and d , respectively .
Section 7 . That Sub-Paragraph ( a ) of Section 6 - 79 . 1 of
the Fayetteville Code of Ordinances is hereby amended to read
as follows :

A base course of gravel , chat , crushed stone ,
sand or a combination of such materials a minimum
of six ( 6 ) inches in depth shall be provided underneath
the concrete floors of all buildings unless the soil
underneath the slab has been mechanically compacted
under the supervision of an Arkansas registered engineer
or architect .
Section 8 . That Chapter 6 of the Fayetteville Code of
Ordinances is hereby amended by adding Section 6- 80 . 1 to read
as follows :
Sec . 6 - 80 . 1 . Section 2001 . 1 amended by deleting
Paragraph ( e ) .
Paragraph ( e ) of Section 2001 . 1 entitled "Minimum
Requirements " is hereby deleted and Paragraph ( f) of said
section is hereby redesignated Paragraph ( e ) .
Section 9 . That Section 6 - 90 of the Fayetteville Code of
Ordinances is hereby amended as follows :
Sec . 6- 90 . Section 2301 deleted .
Section 2301 entitled " Signs and Outdoor Displays "
is hereby deleted from the Building Code .
Section 10 . That Section 6 - 90 . 1 of the Fayetteville Code of
Ordinances is hereby deleted .
Section 11 . That Section 6 - 91 of the Fayetteville Code of
Ordinances is hereby amended to read as follows :
Sec . 6- 91 . Section 2305 added .
That Section 2305 entitled " Street Clocks " and to
read as follows is added to the Building Code :
Sec . 2305 - Street Clocks .
Street clocks shall keep accurate time or be promptly
repaired or removed . For the purpose of this section , a
street clock shall be defined to mean any time piece erected
upon a standard upon a sidewalk or on the exterior of any
building or structure for the convenience of the public
and placed and maintained by a person or firm for the pur -
pose of advertising a place of business .
Section 12 . That Section 6 - 92 of the Fayetteville Code of
Ordinances is hereby deleted .
Section 13 . That Section 6 - 94 of the Fayetteville Code of
Ordinances is hereby amended by redesignating Chapter XXIX to
Chapter XXX ,
