AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE NUMBER 2239
TO CLARIFY THE ANNUAL FRANCHISE TAXES PAYABLE TO THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE BY SOUTHWESTERN BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY .
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE , ARKANSAS :
Section 1 . That Section 1 of Ordinance Number 2239 is
hereby amended to read as follows :
Section 1 . That Section 2 of Ordinance Number 1167 ,
as amended by Ordinances Number 1223', 1295 , _and 1583 is
hereby amended to read as follows :
Section 2 . The telephone company ' s tax obligation
to the city for the year 1976 shall be $ 75 , 000 . 00 . Said
amount shall be payable according to the following schedule :
( a ) $ 56 , 250 . 00 on or before December 31 , 1976 .
(b ) $ 18 , 750 . 00 over a period not to exceed three ( 3 )
years from December 31 , 1976 based on a pass -on
rate using the number of telephones within the
city as of December 31 , 1976 . Said $ 18 , 750 . 00
shall be paid in quarterly installments on or before
the last day of March , June , September and December
of each year until paid in full .
Beginning in 1977 , the telephone company shall
annually pay to the city a minimum of $ 100 , 000 . 00 .
Said sum shall be in addition to any deferred payment
of the telephone company ' s tax obligation for the
year 1976 and shall be paid in four quarterly in-
stallments on or before the last day of March , June ,
September and December of each year .
