ORDINANCE NO . CJS�O
AN ORDINANCE TO AUTHORIZE; AND REGULATE THE OPERATION OF A
FARMER ' S MARKET IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE ,
ARKANSAS ; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES .
WHEREAS , Ark , Stat , Ann , Sec . 19- 3301 authorizes municipalities
to establish and regulate market places for the sale of vegetables
and other articles necessary for the sustenance , convenience and
comfort of the City and the inhabitants thereof ; and
WHEREAS , the Board of Directors has previously endorsed the
operation of a Farmer ' s Market in the downtown area ; and
WHEREAS , a non-profit corporation composed of area non-commer-
cial agricultural producers and area native craftsmen has been
organized ; and
WHEREAS , the Board of Directors deems it desirable to enact
certain regulations to facilitate the smooth operation of a Farmer ' s
Market in the Downtown area .
NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE , ARKANSAS :
Section 1 . That the operation of a Farmer ' s Market , under the
direction and control of the Rural Mountain Producers Exchange ,
Incorporated , in the Downtown Fayetteville area be , and the same
hereby is , authorized .
Section 2 . That the operation of said Downtown Farmer ' s Market
shall be conducted on such days , between such hours , and at such
locations as shall be approved by the City Manager .
Section 3 . That the operation of said Downtown Farmer ' s Market
shall be subject to the following regulations :
(A ) No produce , fruit , or items of handicraft shall be sold
which are not produced in the Northwest Arkansas area or
by the vendor of same .
(B ) Vendors shall be permitted to park their vehicles at right
angles to street curbs with the backs of said vehicles
facing said curbs ; provided , no vehicle shall be permitted
to extend into the street in such a manner that in the
opinion of the Chief of Police it obstructs the free flow of
traffic .
(C ) No vendor shall park his vehicle closer than fifteen feet
from any fire plug .

( D) At the close of each market day , the Rural Mountain
Producers Exchange, Incorporated shall leave the
market area in a clean and sanitary condition , free
from debris and insects .
Section 3 . That this ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after the time provided for by law .
