AN ORDINANCE WAIVING FORMAL BID REQUIREMENTSOR`
F 'THE , .,
PURCHASE OF STEEL BRIDGE GUARD RAILING ; AND FOR QTHER- PURPOSES ,
WHEREAS , the City Street Department is in need of steel
bridge guard railing ; and
WHEREAS , written quotations were requested for 250 linear
feet of said bridge guard railing ; and
WHEREAS , the only quotation received was in excess of $ 1000 ;
and
WHEREAS , the City Street Department is in immediate need of
steel bridge guard railing and the cost of this guard railing is constantly ,
increasing: '
NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE , ARKANSAS :
Section 1 , That pursuant to Ark , Stat , Ann , Sec . 19- 4425
the requirements of competitive bidding for the purchase of
250 linear feet of steel bridge guard railing be , and hereby are ,
waived for the reason that the City Street Department is in immediate
need of said guard railing , and it would not be practical to
advertise for competitive bids , due to constantly increasing costs ,
Section 2 . The Board of Directors hereby determines the
immediate purchase of 250 linear feet of steel bridge guard railing
is necessary to protect the safety of the citizens of the City ,
and that the passage of this ordinance is necessary to enable the
immediate purchase of said guard railing . Therefore , an emergency
is hereby declared to exist , and this ordinance being necessary for
the protection of the public health , safety , and welfare shall be
in full force and effect from and after its passage .
