ORDINANCE NO . J9j# WASHARKAN COUNTY

CIRCUIT CLERK
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING THAT THE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF
DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE , ARKANSAS , SHALL BE
ELECTED IN THE MANNER PROVIDED BY ACT 498 OF 1973 OF THE ACTS
OF ARKANSAS .
WHEREAS , the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas , is a munici -
pal corporation in the State of Arkansas , having the city
manager form of government and whose population is not less
than 28 , 000 nor more than 35 , 000 inhabitants , according to the
most recent decennial census ; and
WHEREAS , the members of the Board of Directors of said
City are now elected in the manner provided by Act 99 of 1921 ,
Acts of Arkansas , as amended , and Act 8 of 1957 , Acts of Ark -
ansas , as amended ; and
WHEREAS , the Board of Directors deems it desirable that
the City elect to choose the members of the Board of Directors
in the manner permitted by Act 498 of 1973 , Acts of Arkansas .
NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE , ARKANSAS :
Section 1 . That the City of Fayetteville hereby elects
to choose the members of the Board of Directors of said City
in accordance with the provisions of Act 498 of 1973 , Acts of
Arkansas , and that from and after the effective date of this
ordinance the members of the Board of Directors of said City
shall be elected in the manner provided in said Act .
Section 2 . That the City Manager be , and he hereby is ,
authorized and directed to make the necessary preparations for
the holding of a special election for the purpose of electing .
members of the City Board of Directors in the manner provided
in Act 498 of 1973 , Acts of Arkansas . That the City Manar

be , and he hereby is , further authorized to coordinate th e
preparations with the County Board of Election Commissioners
and to accomplish the steps necessary to call and conduct said
election , and he is further authorized to recommend a time for
the holding of said special election .

and effect from and after its passage , approval and publica -
tion .
