WHEREAS , Ordinance No . 1165 , passed and approved , April 18 , 1958 , provides that the City water rates contained therein , may be reduced, if an independent certified pub - lic accountain will certify that the City has fulfilled certain requirements found in Section 5 of Ordinance No . 1165 , and WHEREAS , the firm of Myers , Scarbrough and Baker , independent certified public accountants , have on the 11th day of June , 1962 , certified that the City has fulfilled said requirements ; NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE , ARKANSAS , TO- WIT : SECTION 1 . That Section 1 of Ordinance No . 1165 , passed and approved April 18 , 1958 , Treated Water Rates ( Schedule A) is hereby amended to read as follows , to- wit : Monthly Treated Water Rates ( Schedule A) The water usage of each customer shall be determined each month by meter measure - ment and the amount to be paid for water usage by each customer shall be computed on the basis of the following schedule of rates : For the first 1 , 000 gallons of water con- sumption per month , or portion thereof $ 1 . 65 For the next 29 , 000 gallons of water con - sumption per month 0 . 75 per 1 , 000 gallons For the next 270 , 000 gallons of water con- sumption per month 0 . 55 per 1 , 000 gallons For the next 4 , 700 , 000 gallons of water con- sumption per month 0 . 25 per 1 , 000 gallons For the next 5 , 000 , 000 gallons of water consumption per month 0 . 20 per 1 , 000 gallons For the next 5 , 000 , 000 gallons of water consumption per month 0 . 15 per 1 , 000 gallons For all over 15 , 000 , 000 gallons of water consumption per month 0 . 11 per 1 , 000 gallons SECTION Z . It is expressly provided that this Amendment to Ordinance No . 1165 does not have any effect on the monthly meter service charges , provided in the said Ordinance No . 1165 . That all ordinances and resolutions and parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict . SECTION 4 . That because the passage of this Ordinance is necessary for the preservation of the public health, peace , and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval .
