AN ORDINANCE SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE ,
ARKANSAS , THE QUESTION OF ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY ADJACENT
AND CONTIGUOUS TO THE PRESENT CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS , AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES .
WHEREAS , the present corporate limits of the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas , fail
to include thickly populated areas adjacent and contiguous to the City of Fayetteville ,
Arkansas ; and
WHEREAS , service is now being rendered to some parts of the territory by the City
of Fayetteville , Arkansas , gratuitously; and
WHEREAS , the residents of the contiguous areas are without the benefit of police
and fire protection and are being penalized on insurance rates by reason of the lack of
adequate fire protection; and
WHEREAS , such contiguous areas are needed for the extension of streets , sewer ,
gas and water systems ; to supply places for abode and business ; and for the extension of
needed police regulation; and
WHEREAS , such contiguous areas , if annexed, will unite with the presently
extablished city limits to make up a homogenous city which will afford to its several parts
the ordinary benefits of local government; and
WHEREAS , the City Council of the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas , is of the opinion
that the question of annexing the territories hereinafter described should be submitted to
the qualified electors of the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas , at its next annual election to
be held on Tuesday, November 8 , 1960 ;
NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE , ARKANSAS :
SECTION 1 . That there be submitted to the qualified electors of the City of
Fayetteville , Arkansas , at the next annual election to be held on Tuesday, November 8 ,
1960 , the question of annexation of territory contiguous and adjacent to the present
corporate limits of the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas , so as to annex to the present
corporate limits of the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas , the following described territories ,
to- wit:
1 . All of Section 3 , Township 16 North, Range 30 West, of the 5th Principal
Meridian not now embraced in the corporate limits of the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas .
2 . All of the North Half of the Northeast Quarter of Section 10 , Township 16 North ,
Range 30 West of the 5th Principal Meridian not now incorporated in the City of Fayetteville,
Arkansas .
3 . All of the West Half of the West Half of Section 36 , Township 17 North , Range
30 West of the 5th Principal Meridian . MICROFILMED

4. All of the West Half of the West Half of Section 25 , Township 17 North , Range
30 West of the 5th Principal Meridian .
5 . All of Section 35 , Township 17 North , Range 30 West of the 5.th Principal
Meridian , except the West Half of the West Half of said Section .
6 . All of Section 26 , Township 17 North , Range 30 West of the 5th Principal
Meridian, except the West Half of the West Half of said Section .
7 . All of the West Half of the West Half of Section 24, Township 17 North , Range
30 West of the 5th Principal Meridian .
8 . All of Section 23 , Township 17 North , Range 30 West of the 5th Principal
Meridian, except the West Half of the West Half of said Section .
9 . All of that part of Section 14 , Township 17 North , Range 30 West of the 5th
Principal Meridian described as beginning at the Southeast corner of said Section 14,
running thence North one eighth ( 1 / 8) mile ; thence West three -fourths ( 3 / 4) mile , more
or less , to the Northwest corner of the South Half of the Southeast Quarter of the Southwest
Quarter of said Section 14; thence South one - eighth ( 1 / 8 ) mile to the South line of said
Section 14; thence East approximately three-fourths ( 3 / 4) mile to the point of beginning .
10 . Parts of Sections 13 and 24 in Township 17 North , Range 30 West of the Fifth
Principal Meridian, and parts of Section 18 and 19 in Township 17 North , Range 29 West
of the Fifth Principal Meridian, described as follows :
All of the South Half of the South Half of the Southwest Quarter of said Section 13 ;
all of the South Half of the Southeast Quarter of said Section 13 ; all of the Northeast
Quarter of the Southeast Quarter and all of the Southeast Quarter of the Northeast Quarter
of said Section 13 ; all of the Southwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter and the South-
east Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of said Section 18 ; all of the West Half of the South-
west Quarter of said Section 18 ; all of the Northwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of
said Section 19 ; all of the North Half of the Northeast Quarter of said Section 24; all of .
the East Half of the Northwest Quarter of said Section 24; and all of the Southwest Quarter
of the Northeast Quarter of said Section 24 ..
SECTION 2 .. The ballot title shall appear as follows :
" The Question of Annexation of Certain
Territory to the City of Fayetteville ,
Arkansas .
For Annexation
Against Annexation "

SECTION 3 . That in the event of the approval of said annexation by the qualified
electors of the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas , as hereinabove provided for , the such
steps be taken as are necessary to comply with the will of the people as expressed in
said election .
