AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 10 OF ORDINANCE N 577 - 13 OF THE
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS, AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES :
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE*
ARKANSAS:
SECTION ( 1) . That Stiction 10 of Ordinance ff 577 - B of the Ordinances
of the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas , passed and approved October 5 ,
1925 , is hereby amended to read as follows :
1110 , PROTECTION OF WALL OPENINGS , If the opening be in a
party or fire wall it shall have a standard automatic fire door on
one side only of the wall . If an opening in a fire wall is made to
serve as an emergency exit, it shall not exceed 48 square feet in
area, and a self closing swinging fire door shall be substituted for
the automatic fire door . The total openings in a fire wall shall not
exceed 25116 in linear length of the wall .
Every building within the file limits , except churches , dwellings ,
tenament houses , dormatories , and lodging houses . shall have
standardfire doors , shutters , or wired glass in incombustible
frames and sash on every exterior opening above the first story,
except when fronting on a street not less than 50 feet wide . or where
no other building is within 35 feet of such opening . All openings
in the side and rear walls of the first story except show windows shall
be protected as prescribed in this section when within 50 feet of another
building . All exterior windows more than 75 feet above the curb shall
have incombustible frames and sash glazed with wired glass . Occupants
of buildings shall close all exterior and interior fire doors , shutters , and
windows at the closed of business each day. "
Section (2) . All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed and this Ordinance being necessary for the
preservation of the public health , peace and safety , an emergency is
hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval .
