AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE OPERATION OF MOTOR VEHICLES BY
PERSONS UNDER, THE INFLUENCE OF INTOXICATING LIQUOR OR NAR -
COTIC DRUGS WITHIN THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE , ARKANSAS, PRO-
VIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS AND OTHER PURPOSES ,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE ,
ARKANSAS :
SECTION 1 : That Act No . 208 of the 1953 Acts of the General Assembly
of Arkansas , is hereby adopted in its entirety as the law controlling such
violations committed within corporate limits of the. City of Fayetteville , Arkansas .
SECTION 2 : Whereas , it is imperative for the safety of pedestrians and
other users of the highways , streets , roadways and alleys of the City of
Fayetteville to maintain strict enforcement of all the traffic and criminal laws
designed to protect the public , and hwereas at the present time our Ordinances
do not provide adequate punishment for violators of such Ordinances pertaining
to drunken driving , the City Council finds that this Ordinance is necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public peace , health and safety, and hereby declare
that an emergency exists , and that this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval .
PASSED AND APPROVED this 7th day of May , 1956 .
