AN ORDINANCE FIXING ANNUAL LICENSE FEE FOR THE OPERATION OF A BUS LINE BY THE
UNIVERSITY CITY TRANSIT COMPANY, INC . , IN THE CITY OF FAYETTEUILLE, ARKANSAS,
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES .
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS :
Section 1. The annual license or tax for the privilege of operating a bus
line for the transportation of passengers by the University City Transit Company,
Inc . , solely within the corporate limits of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas-,
arra within a fire ( 5 ) mile radius beyond the corporate limits of said city shall
be One Hundred Dollars ($100. 00) per year, retroactive to January 111955.
Section 2 . The license or tax herein provided shall become due on January 1st
in each year and shall be for the privilege of operating said bus line for a period .
of one year.
Section 3 . No person, firm, or corporation shall operate a bus line in the
City of Fayetteville , Arkansas, without having first paid the license or tax
hereinabove provided and in the event the license or tax is not paid as provided
in Sedtion 2 hereof, the person, firm, or corporation so operating such bus line
shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof, shall be fined in any
sum not exceeding Twenty-Five Dollars ( #25 .00) for each bus line so operated in
violation of the terms of, this ordinance and each day of such operation shall be
considered a separate offense .
Section 4. That all that part of Section 1 of Ordinance No . 1059 which fixes
a license fee for the privilege of operating a common carrier passenger vehicle,
with fixed passenger capacity in excess of seven ( 7 ) passengers, is hereby expressly
repealed.
