HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 1003 do ORDINANCE N0* n n AN ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING THE DUTIES OF THE MAYOR OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS, ABOLISHING THE OFFICE OF PURCHASING AGENT, FIXING THE SALARY OF THE MAYOR, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, the terms of Mayors of Cities of the First Class expire on December 31st in odd years, and by statutes adopted, the emoluments of the office of the Mayor can be neither increased or diminished for the term for which he was elected, and, WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of . the City of Fayette- ville , Arkansas to provide compensation to the Mayor of the City of Fayette- ville, Arkansas in an amount at least equal to the average salaries of mayors received in other cities in the State of comparable size ; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS : Section 1. The Mayor of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas shall perform such duties as are prescribed by law for mayors of cities of the first class having an aldermanic form of government and such duties as he is at present performing for the City of Fayetteville, including the duties which he has heretofore performed as Ex-Officio Purchasing Agent for the City of Fayette- ville , Arkansas, Section 2. The ex-officio office of purchasing agent of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas is hereby abolished and the Mayor of the City of Fayette- ville shall perform the duties of the purchasing agent as provided in Section 1 hereof. Section 3. The salary of the Mayor of the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas is hereby fixed at $300. 00 per month, beginning on January 1, 1952 at the time a new term begins, which salary shall be full compensation for all services required to be performed by the Mayor of the City of Fayetteville . Section 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed , and it appearing that the new term of the Mayor of the City of Fayetteville will begin on January 1 , 1952 and it being the intention that this ordinance shall take effect at the same time that the term begins ; this ordinance shall be in full force and effect on and after January 1 , 1952.
