AN ORDINANCE ABOLISHING THE OFFICE OF MUNICIPAL COURT CLERK OF THE CITY
OF FAYETTEPILLE, 0 WASHINGTON . COUNTY, ARKANSAS , AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES :
Whereas, by reason of the filing of state cases directly in the
Circuit Court of Washington County, Arkansas, the duties of the Municipal
Court have been diminished by nearly one halfy- and,
Whereas , Washington County has refused to pay one-half of the salary
of the Municipal Court Clerrkp which has increasedlthe expense of the

Municipal Court 0•®0 per annum, and,
Whereas, clerical and ministerial work of the Munigipal Court of
the City of Fayetteville has been materially reduced and the City of `
Fayetteville is unable to obtain bfe sufficient contribution from
Washington County to justify the maintenance of the office of Municipal
Court Clerk of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas .
Now , therefore , be it ordained by the City . Council of the City of
Fayetteville, Arkansas :
Section 1 . That the - office of Municipal Court . Clerk of the City of
Fayetteville, Arkansas is hereby abolished .
Section 2 . All ordinances or parts f ordinances in conflict here-
with and particularly Ordinance No . �of the Ordinances of the City.
of Fayetteville , Washington County, Arkansas , are hereby repealed.
Section 3. It appearing that ministerial and clerical duties of the
Municipal Court of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas have been diminished
under the past several months . to such an extent that the office of Municipal
Court Clerk of the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas is no longer justified
and it further appearing that the City of Fayetteville is not financially
able to continue to maintain the office of Municipal Court Clerk of the
City of Fayetteville , Arkansas without additional assistance from Washington

County, an _emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance is in
full force and effect on and after the LC day of , 1949 .
