ORDINANCE N0 .
AN ORDINANCE SUBMITTING TO-THE ELECTORS OF THE
CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE , ARKANSAS , THE QUESTION OF
ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY ADJACENT AND
CONTIGUOUS TO THE PRESENT CORPORATE LIIJIITS OF
THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE , ARKANSAS , AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES .i
WHEREAS , the present corporate limits of the City of Fayette-
ville , Arkansas , fail to include thickly populated areas adjacent
and contiguous to the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas , and
WHEREAS , service is now being rendered to some parts of the
territory by the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas gratuitously, and
WHEREAS , the residents of the contiguous areas are now without
the benefit of police and fire protection and are being penalized
on insurance rates by reason of the lack of adequate fire protec-
tion , and
WHEREAS., the City Council of the City of Fayetteville , Ark-
ansas , is of the opinion that the question of annexing the terri-
tories hereinafter described should be submitted to the qualified
electors of the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas , at its next annual
election to be held on April 2 ; 19460
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the
City of Fayetteville , Arkansas :
SECTION I . That there be submitted to the qualified elect-
ors of the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas , at the next annual
election to be held on April 2 , 19462 .the question of annexation
of territory contiguous and adjacent to the present corporate '
limits of the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas , so as to extend
the corporate limits to the following described boundaries , to -
wit :

Beginning in the intersection of Garland Avenue and West
North Street at the Southwest corner of the NW-14, of Section 9 ; - thence
North 1/2 mile to the Northwest corner of the NWI of Section 9 ; thence
East 1/2 mile to the Northeast corner of the NWI of Section 9 ; thence
North 1/4 mile to the Northwest corner of the SWI of the SEI of
Section 4 ; thence East 1/4 mile to the Northeast corner of the SWI of
the SE-.1 of Section 4; thence due North to the North line of Section 4
which is the North line of T 16 N ; thence East along said township
line to a point which is 1620 feet East of the section line between
Section 3 and 4 ; thence South 1/4 mile to a point 300 feet East of
the Northwest corner of the NEI of, the SW, of Section 3 ; thence East
to the Northeast corner of the NWI of the SE4 of Section 3 ; thence
South to a point 340 feet North of the Northeast corner of the
NW-.I of the NEI. o£ Section 10 ; thence due East parallel to and 340
feet North of the North lines of Sections 10 and 11 , crossing to the
East side of Highway 45 to a point that is 300 feet perpendicular
distant from the center- line of Highway 45 ; thence in a Southwesternly
direction following along parallel to and 300 feet from the center
line of Highway 45 to a point that is 300 feet North of the North
line of the SW4 of the SE-.I of Section 10 ;- thence East parallel to and
300 feet North of the North line of the SW4 of the SEI of Section 10
to a point that is: 400 feet East and 300 feet North of the Northeast
corner of the SW4 of the SE4 of Section 10 ; thence due South to a
point 400 feet East of the Southeast corner of the SW4 of the SE4
of Section 15 ; thence West to the Southwest corner of SEI of the SW4
of Section 15 ; thence South 1/2 mile to the Southeast corner of the
SW4 of the NW-1 of Section 22 ; thence West -1/2 mile to the Southeast
corner of the SW4 of the NE* of Section 21 , thence South 1/2 mile
to the Southeast corner of the SW4 of the SE4 of Section 21 ; thence
one mile West to the Southwest corner of the SE4 of the SE4 of Section
20 ; thence North 3/4 mile to the center of the NEI of Section 20 ; " thence
West .1/4 mile to the Southwest corner of the NW4 of the NEI of Section
20 ; thence North 1 3/4 miles to the center of . Section 8 ; thence East 1/2

SECTION II . The ballot title shall appear as follows :
" The Question of Annexation of Certain
Territory to the City of Fayetteville ,
Arkansas . "
"For Annexation"
"Against Annexation"
SECTION III . That in the event of the approval of said
annexation by the qualified . electors of the City of Fayette-
villa , Arkansas , as hereinabove provided for , that such steps
be taken as are necessary to comply with the will of the people
as expressed in saiid election.
