ORDNANCE NO QQ'�
AN ORDNANCE PROVIDING FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF THE DUTIES OF
THE C EF OF POLICE OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE , ARKANSAS
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES,
Whereas under present conditions the duties of the office of
Chief of Police require the services of a full time employee and
Whereas the Civil Service Commission of the City of Fayetteville
does not at the present have any person qualified for appointment to
the office of Chief of Police .
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYEPT EVILLE , ARKANSAS :
SECTION I . That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized to
select some person to perform the duties of the office of Chief of
Police of the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas , subject to the approval
of the Police Committee and the City Council of the City of Fayetteville ,
Arkansas , at such salary as the Council may from time to time fix .
The Mayor of the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas , is hereby re=
lieved of his duties as ex-officio chief of the Police Department in
the City of Fayetteville and to be under no obligations to discharge
such duties ,
SECTION II . All ordnances and parts of ordnances in conflict

herewith are hereby repealed , and it appearing that public health , peace
and safety , demand the immediate services of a full time employee to
discharge the duties of Chief of Police : an emergency is hereby de-
clared to exist and this ordnance shall be in full force and effect

from and after its passage , approval and publication .
Passed and approved this 5th day of March 1945 .
