All ORDIZANCE RELIEVING PATROILSEN OF THE CITY OF FAY�ffTlVILLE OF CERTAIN DUTIES , SETTING UP A PROGRESSIVE CAGE SCALE FOR PATROL- MEN , PROVIDING FOR THE PURCHASE OF A POLICE PATROL CAR AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAIN]3D BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE , ARKANSAS : SECTION I . That , it appearing that the $10 . 00 per month allowed to patrolmen of the Police Force of the City of Fayetteville for the use of their cars in connection with their duties as such pa- trolmen is inadequate ; said batrolmen are hereby relieved of the duty of furnishing cars and the : 10 . 00 allowance for such use is hereby rescinded and cancelled, SECTION II . The position of Desk Patrolman , heretofore provided for by this Council is not now and was never intended to be a separate classification but is a shift of regular patrolmen and salaries for the offices of patrolmen shall be as follows , to-wit : Probationary Patrolman ( First six ( 6 ) Months) ( 80 . 00 per month Patrolman, 7th Month through 12th month $85 . 00 per month Patrolman 13th Month through 24th month 90 . 00 per month Patrolman 25th Month and after 100 . 00 per month Provided, however , that patrolmen shall have no vested right to any salary above 080 , 00 per month and mages to be paid to patrolmen shall be certified to the Council by the Civil Service Commission of the City of Fayetteville immediately after the effective date of this ordinance and thereafter as often as pay of ihdividual patrolmen are increased or diminished , provided that the Civil Service Com- mission shall take into consideration the recommendation of the Chftf of the Department in increasing or decreasing salaries within the above limits , and increases in pay shall not be made sooner or in greater amounts than is set forth in this Section , SECTION III . That , it appearing that the salary for a Chief of Police rias budgeted at $150 , 00 per month from April 1 , 1941 and 4 months have elapsed and said sums have not been expended which at this time amounts to an accumulation of $600 . 00 , the Finance Committee of the City Council is directed to take necessary steps to purchase a police patrol car for the Police Department and such Rt41tR0F1u4tCD other equipment as may from time to time be needed , keeping in DATE _,a� REELzo a _L�J mind the ability of the City of Fayetteville to pay for the same , SECTION IV. It appearing that Police Patrolmen of the City of Fayetteville are unable to operate their cars on the allowances made to them for that purpose and it further appearing that unless a progressive wage scale is adopted for the police department mulch discord and possible litigation will ensue ; and it further appear— ing that it is necessary that the City of Fayetteville be more adequately patrolled by the Police in order to better protect the public health , peace and safety ; an emergency is hereby declared toexist � and this ordinance shall be in full force from and after ��� o��tea�iets.
