AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE SEPARATE OFFICE OF CHIEF OF
POLICE OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE , AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES .
WHEREAS , financial conditions of the City of Fayetteville
have made it possible to set aside sufficient funds to maintain
the separate office of Chief of Police , and
WHEREAS ; it is desirable that a Chief of Police be named
as soon as a suitable person can be selected with necessary
qualif is ations;
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the
City of Fayetteville , Arkansas :
SECTION 1 . The separate office of Chief of Police of the
City of Fayetteville is hereby created and shall be filled in
the manner provided by law and the rules and regulations of
the Civil Service Commission of the City of Fayetteville .
SECTION 2 . Pending the selection and designation of a
Chief of Police , the Mayor of the City of Fayetteville shall
continue to act as Ex—U£ ficio Chief of Police in the capacity
in which he is now serving .
SECTION 3 . All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed ; and it appearing that the administration
of the Police Department requires a full time , active Chief of
Police , an emergency is hereby declared to exist , and this
ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage , approval and publication.
Passed and approved this day of 1941 .
