AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A BOARD OF EXAMINERS FOR GAS FITTERS ,
PRESCRIBING DUTIES AND - FOR OTHER PURPOSES .
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
i"ayetteville , Arkansas :
SECTION I . There is hereby created a Board composed of three citi-
zens of the City of Fayetteville , to be known as the Board of Examiners
for Gas Fmtters , whose duties shall be to determine the qualifications
of all persons seeking to fit or install gas pipes , fixtures , and/or appli-
ances , or to repair the same ; and to Issue gas fitters or gas fitting ,
fixture or appliance repairman licenses to such persons as in the judgment
of said Board are qualified to fit gas pipes , fixttres or appliances 4P

of negligence in fitting or repairing gas pipe , fixtures or appliances or
perform sush services in such a manner as to indicate either a lack of qual-
ifications or negligence , then said Board may revoke the license of said
person and refuse to re -issue such libense until in the judgment of said
Board such person makes a satisfactory showing that no further negligence
or lack of qualifications will pecur .
SECTION17 Any person desiring to fit or repair gas pipes or piping ,
fixtures and/or sappliances shall be required to make application to the
Board of Examiners for Oas Fitters , and after satisfyingrsaid Board as to
qualifications and integrity , 'and securdng their certificate as to such:. -
qualifications and integrity , shall present said certificate to the City
Clerk ,who shall issue a Gas Fitters and Gas Repairmans license upon pay-
ment of an annual license fee in the sum of $3 . 00 , which shall expire on
the 31st day of December in each year .
SECTION Me Any person fitting or attempting to fit gas pipes
or piping , fixtures or appliances or repairing or attempting to repair
the same without the license prescribed in this Ordinance , shall be guilty
of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be fined in any sum not exceed-
ing $100 .00 , and each act of fitting or repairing shall constitute a sep-
erate offence .
SECTION We Any employer: who shall permits any of his employees
to fit or repair gas pipes or appliances witout such employee first having-
secured
avingsecured the license herein provided shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and
punishable by a fine in any sum not to exceed $100 :00 , and each violation
of this Section shall constitute a seperate offence .
SECTION 0 All ordinances relating to the qualification:. and
licensing of Plumbers shall be equally applicable to Gas Fitters and re -
pairmen , except such as are in direct conflict with this Ordinance .
SECTION 9I7. . The Board herein created shall be appointed by the
Mayor and such appo*Mtment confdrmed by the Council , and their terms of
office shall be at the will and pleasure of the Council .
SECTION Me All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed and it appearing that the enactment of this
Ordinance is necessary for the peaces health and safety of the residents
of the City of Fayetteville , an emergency is hereby declared to exist and
this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passggg ,
approval and publication .
