AN ORDINANCE ABOLISHING THE SEPARATE OFFICES OF CHIEF OF
POLICE AND CHIEF OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT DESIGNATING THE MAYOR
AS EIA -OFFICIO CHIEF OF POLIO= AND CHIiF OF THE FIRE DEPART-
MENT WITHOUT PAY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
Whereas, it is necessary mato economies on expend•m
!tures out of the general fund of the Olty of Fayetteville in
order 4ompW to comply with
Amendment No. 10 to the Constitution of the State of Arkansap
and,
Whereas , after a careful survey it has been determined
that by abolishing the separate offices of Chief of Polio* and
Ohfibf of the Fire Department and making the Mayor of the City
of Fayetteville the Ez-offioio Chief of Polioe , and Ohl*f of
`r the Fire Department a material saving will result and the
residents of the City of Fayetteville will not suffer as a
consequence of such curtailment of expenditures:
NON, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the
4- City of Fayetteville , Arkaneas :
SECTION ONES The separate offices of Chief of Police and
! s Chief of the Fire Department of the City of Fayetteville , Ark-
; ansas, are hereby abolishel, and the powers and duties of such
j offices are hereby vested in the Mayor of the City of Fayette-
� � villo Arkansas who shall hereafter be the Zx- offioio Chief
of Po 08 end chief of the Fire Department of said City of Fay-
ettevllle , and the salaries heretofore paid to the Chief of
Police and Chief of the Fire Department of the city of Fayetrem
villa , shall remain in the general fund to be used for such
purposes as may be necessary ,

SECTION TWO : All or ances or parte of ordinances in corm
flict herewith are hereby repealed, and lkta it appearing that
the general fund of the City of Fayetteville is allready overm
drawn and that a saving must be made immediately 4mmosb erg
smileekin order to comply with
Amendment No. 10 to the Constitution of the State of Arkaneas ,
an emergency is hereby declared to exist , and this OrAdnance
shall be in full force and effect from and after its "Peage ,
approval and publication.

is hereby declared to exist, and
I this Ordinance shall be in full
force and effect from and after
its passage, aproval and publica-
tion.
