AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING TAPPING OF '.PATER MAINS AND OPENING
AND CLOSING OF VALVES AND CUTOFFS , PROVIDII:G PENALTIES FOR
VIOLATIONS , AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES ,
BE IT ORDAINIED by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville ,
Arkansas :
SECTION I . It shall be unlawful for any person , firm or
corporation to make connection with the water distributing system
of the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas ; or to open or close any
valve , cut-off , cock or other opening in any part of the distrmbuting
system of the City '.later Plant . Provided , this ordinance shall not
apply to licensed plumbers engaged in their professional capacity ;
and provided further that this ordinance shall not apply to that
part of the distributing system carrying water after it has passed
through meters installed by the City I;'ater Plant .
SECTION II . Any person , firm or corporation violating the
terms of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor
and shall be punished by a fine of not less than $ 5 . 00 norc more
than $ 50 . 00 ; and in addition thereto the Superintendent of the
;later Plant shall have the right to discontinue water service to
any person , firm or corporation violating the terms of Section I of
this ordinance .
SECTION III . All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed, and this ordinance being necessary
for the protection of the Water Plant of the City of Fayetteville ,
Arkansas , an emergency is hereby dellared, and this ordinance shall
bein full force and effect from and after its passage , approval
and publication ,
