Council of the City of Fayette- ville , Arkansas : Section 1 . That it shall be unlawful for any person , firm , or corporation to erect , construct , maintain , . or hang from any building , or any other- support , any sign hanging - or extending over the: side walks of the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas , .unless such person, firm , or corporation comply with the following provisions . Section 2 . That any -person , firm , or corporation who- nay de - sire to erect or maintain any sign extending over or across any side walk , or_ street in the City of Fayetteville , or extending more than 18 inches -from the building to which it is, attached , shall submit to the City Council an application for a permit to erect or maintain such sign together with the design and speci - fications , showing the size ` and construction of such sign , qnd .. the matter to- appear thereon . Ii the -city council approve ' such, application , design , . and . specification , such approval shall be made of record in . the proceedings of the council , . and . the city clerk instructed to issue said permit on the condition that the work be done under the supervision and inspection of the city building inspector , and it shall thereupon be lawful for the applicant to erect or maintain such sign . ' Fee for permit $1 . 00 , � and fee for inspection - of construction and erection $1 . 50 . Section 3 . The city council shall issue no permit unless the design and specifications of the sign to be hung shows that it is to - be of all metal construction with AJ=Qpes I frame , xtive ,ted.. not _ . less than every 8 inches ; or if it be of porcelain face - on steel plate base it may be without frame . Size of sign not to. exceed f 2Q fee t . by 6 feet ; that said sign must clear the side walk by at L least nine feet and that said sign i-s not to extendtbeyond the -curb . Section 4-. Any person , firm, or corporation :violating any , provisions of this ordinance shall . be . guilty of misdemeanor and fined in the sum of not less than $5 . 00 nor more than $15 . 00 and each day the said provisions of this ordinance is violated shall constitute a "separate offense . ✓ Section 6 . 'All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed , * and this ordinance "shall be in full ' force and effect from and after its passage and publication .
