AN ORDINANCE TO BE ENTITLED , ° AN ORDINANCE TO REFER TO A VOTE OF THE
QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE ,ARKANSAS ,AT THE NEXT GEN -
ERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON THE 3RD DAY OF APRIL91934 , IN
THE VARIOUS WARDS , THE QITM TION OF THE ANNEXATION OF THE TERRITORY COM -
POSING THE SITE OF THE GOVERNMENT VETERANS HOSPITAL• TO THE CITY OF FAY-
ETTEVILIE ,ARKANSAS , AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES .
THAT WHEREAS , the annexation of the territory , adjoining the City
of Fayetteville , and conposing the present site of the Government Vet -
erans Hospital was made a part of the consideration for the location of
the Hospital here by the Veterans Administration , and
WHEREAS , there being no qualified electors owning an interest in
said realestate it is necessary to submit the question of the annexation
of said territory to the legal voters of said City , and therefore
BE IT. ORDAINED BY THE CITY COTINCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE ,ARKANSAS :
SECTION ONE . That the city Clerk of the City of Fayetteville , Ark-
ansas , be , and he is , hereby directed to certify to the election comm-
issioners the question of the annexation to the City the fmllowing des -
cribed lands , situated in Washington County , Arkansas , adjoining and
contiguous to the corporate limits of said City , to-wit :
Beginning at a point which is one hundred and seventy ( 1701 ) feet
East of the Northwest corner of the Northwest quarter of the South West
Quarter of Section ten ( 10 ) ; Township sixtgen ( 16 ) North ; Range . thirty
( 30 ) West of the 5th P :M & and running thence North Fourteen -hundred and
Ninety -seven ( 14971 ) feet ; thence West one hundred seventy ( 1701 ) feet
to the East line of Section Nine ( 9 ) , Township sixteen ( 16 ) North ; , Range
thirty ( 30 ) West of the 5th P •M . ; thence North to the Northeast corner
of Section Nine ( 9 ) ; Township Sixteen ( 16 ) North ; Range thirty West of
5th P •M . ; thence West to the Northwest corner of the Northeast Quarter
of the Northeast • Quarter of said Section nine ( 9 ) ; thence South to the
Southwest corner of the Southeast Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of
Section Nine ( 9 )�Tov✓nship sixteen ( 16 ) North , Range thirty '( 30 ) West of
the 5th P .M . ; thence East along- the present City Limits of the City of
Fayetteville , Arkansas , to the place of beginning .
To be placed on the Official Ballot to be voted on at the next
General City Election to be held on the 3rd day of April , 1934 , in the
various Wards of said City .
SECTION. TWO . The question to appear upon the official ballot to
be voted-on shall be in the following form :
VOTE FOR : The annexation of the territory composing the site of the , ,
Veterans Hospital to the City of Fayetteville # Arkansas .
VOTE AGAINST : The annexation of the territory composing the site of the
Veterans Hospital to the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas .
SECTION THREE . This ordinence ' being necessary for the protection
of the public peace , health and safety , and emergency is hereby declared
to exist , and this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and
after its passage ,approval and publication *
