AN ORDINANCE TO BE ENTITLED , " AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NTTMBER
750 OF THE ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF FAYETTBVILLE ,ARKANSAS ; TO PROVIDE
THE - REGTTLATIONS FOR ASSESSING AND COLLECTING AN ANNUAL PRIVILEGE LIC -
ENSE TAX ON ALL MOTOR VEHICLES OWNED AND/OR .OPERATED WITHIN THE CORP-
ORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE ,ARKANSAS , AND FOR OTHERi PTTRQ
POSES .
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE , ARKANSAS :
SECTION ONE : An ordinance to amend ordinance number 750 of the ordin -
ances of the - City of Fayetteville , Arkansas to read as follows :
That from and after the passage and approval 'of this ordinance , `
all owners of motor drbven vehicles owned and / or operated within the
corporate limits, of the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas , shall pay an
annual privilege license tax for the privilege of using the streets of
said City , said license shall begin and expire with the calendar year .
and shall be due and payable on the 1st day of January,-19349 and on
the lat day . of January of each year thereafter ; Provided all owners
shall be allowed 10 days grace in which to buy license , whether they be
old residents , new residents or new owners of motor vehicles , the time
shall be calculated to be gin at the time said license would have been
due had there been no time allowed .
SECTION TWO : On each Automobile and Motorcycle owned and/or operated
within the corporate limits of the city of Fayetteville , Arkansas , used
for the • sole purpose of pleasure and carrying passenger' s , shall pay "
an annual privilege license tax of $5 .00 per calendar ,year for the year
that said licenses were issued .
SECTION THREE : On each truck owned and/ or operated within the City of
Fayetteville , Arkansas , shall pay an annual privilege license tax at
the rate of ,$5 .00 for each . * ton capacity of said truck i •e : a -L ton _
truck license shall be $5 .00 ;. 1 ton truck $10 .00 ; l# ton truck 115 .00 ,
& etc * at the same ratio .
SECTION FOUR : On each car used for hire. as a Taxi shall - pay a privilege
license tax for the privilege of using the streets of said City in the
at= of $25 .00 per annum . for each calendar year .
SECTION FIVE : The City Collector shall issue no license plate to any
applicant for a less semi than the annual license fee for such vehicle ;
and any person n owningand/d/ or operating any motor vehicle described
above without having complied with all the provisions of this ordinance
shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction before the
Police Judge shall be fined in any sun not less than - the amount of the
license tax due ,nor more than double the amount of such license , and
shall also be required to buy the ;. lioense .
SECTION SIX : The provisions ' of this ordinance are here by declared to l
be cumulative to , .the City ordinances 'now in- force and repeals only the
ordinances and parts of ordinances in direct conflict herewith , this
ordinance - shall ' take effect and be in ' force from and after its passage
approval and publication .
