Sec . 1. It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person, firm, or cor-
poration toengage in the mercantile business within the corporate limits
of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas without first having executed a bond
in the sum of $1500 vrith good and approved security to be approved by the
Clerk of the City of Fayetteville , Arkansas , conditioned that if such person,
fins, or corporation fails to remain in continuous business for a period of
six (6) months or longer that the follosinE license tax rill be paid into
the City Treasury of the said City: One Hundred Timnty Five Dollars for each
month or part thereof that such person, fins, or corpora-
tion shall enpze in the mercantile business , conditioned further, that in the
event such license is not so paid that the said bond shall be forfeited to the
said City; " provided, nothing herein contained shall be so construed as to
apply to the buying or selling of. arty veFetebles , gain, fruit, or other farm
products or livestock of any description. Providing further , that this ordinan^.e
shall J= gn not apply to wW person, fins, or corporation who shall remain
in said mercantile business for a continuous period of 6 months or longer.
Sec . 2. That any person, firm, or cor?oration who shall engaLe in the
mercantile business within the corporate limits of the said City, in violation
of Section 1 of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and
upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not less than five dollars
nor more than fifteen dollars , for each offense ; and each day or part thereof
that any person, firm, or corporation shall so engage in the mercantile
business shall constitute a soparate offense .
Sec . 3. That this ordinance shall be in force and effect from and after
its passage , approval, and publication and= all ordinances or parts thereof
in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed .
