I
An Ordinance for the regulating and maintaining the sanitary
condition of surface closets or privies .
Be It Ordained By The Council of the City of Fayetteville ,
Arkansas : -
See 1 . That all premlaes in the City of Fayetteville ,
Arkansas , more than three hundred feet from a public sewer
and which have surface closets in connection therewith , shall
pay in advance to the Sanitary Police , a licnese of $1 . 00 per
quarter of three months , for the cleaning and liming of said
closets .
Sec . 2. That all hotels , boarding houses of ten rooms or
more , business houses of whatsoever kind and wagon yards , more
than three hundred feet from a public sewer , shall pay a licnese
of $1 . 50 per quarter of three months in advance .
Sec . 3 . Every surface closet within the City of Fayetteville ,
Arkansas , not permanently nailed up by the Sanitary Police , shall
be understood as being in use for the receiption of night soil
and subject to the provisions of this ordinance .
Sec . 4 . Every owner or tenant using a privy without a written
consent or permit from the Sanitary Police shall be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor , and upon conviction thereof shall be
fined in any sum not less than one dollar nor more than five
dollars ; each and every day that any privy is used without a
permit as provided above shall constitute a seperate offense .
Sec . 5 . That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith be and the same are hreby repealed , and that
this ordinance be in force June lst , 1912 , after passage and
publication .
