An . ordinance to prohibit the construction and maintainance of awnings
on the public square and adjacent blocks in Fayetteville , Arkansas ,
and requiring all ayinings now in use on said public square and adjacent
blocks to be torn down .
Be it ordained by the City Council of the city of Fayetteville ,
Arkansas ,
Section 1 . It shall be unlawful for any person , persons or corporation
to build , construct or mailtain any awning , porch or shed of any hind
or nature in front of any building facing on Center Street between
College Avenue and Church Street , facing on East Street between ;:eadow
and .: ountain Street ; which awning , shed or porch shall extend over any
part of us sidexalk on such streets .
erection 2 . That all awnings , r;orches and sheds now in use on the parts
of streets ,-. entionod in section one of this ordinance are hereby declar -
ed to be a nuisance and the owners of same are her .; by directed to re -
move the sane within ten days after the passage and publicatio :l of this
ordinance .
Section 3 . That the provisions of this ordinance do not apply to cloth
awnings which are support .:d entirely from the buildings .
Section 4 . Any pk. rson violating this ordinance or railing or refusing
to cou.) ly with its provisions in removing awnings , sheds or porches ,
shall be deemed guilty of a misdo.meanor and upon conviction shall be
fined in any sum not less than Ten Dollars nor more than Twenty Five
Dollars for each offense , and each day of such violation shall consti -
tute a separate offe*ise .

Section , 5 . That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
faith this ordinance be , and the sane are repealed and this ordinance
' shall be in force from and after ten days after passage and publication . .
