ITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF TIS CITY OF FAYETTEVILTZ) TO CONSTRUCT AND USE SEPTIC TANKS SENERAGE DISPOSAL PLAITTS . Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville Arkansas . Section 1 . That from and after the passa,e and publication of this ordinance it shall be unlawful for the e1Nner:9 and occupants of houses within said corporate limits , to construct , use and maintain ton their premises Septic Tank sewerage disposal plants , provided the same shall be constructed , 'kept and maintained , according to the following speefications , to wit : - SPECFICATIONS T'OR RACTERIAL DISPOSAL PLANT , SEPTIC TAUK : - Excavation for Septic, tank shall be made five feet deep and such diameter as is necessary to Give the requisite capacity , wall with brick , one course thick to two feet and three inches from botton: full diameter , and from this point arch in , to three fact and six incies above bottom, calls to be of good hard brick laid in lime mortar and cemented with 1-2 by 1-' cement and sand on inside and dirt on bottom. Cover with t substantial flagstone , cemented with bricT: . Soptic tank to be of such cap- acity as to furnish 1-3 cubic yards space for each person to be accomodated , allozrinU extra for visitors . FILTER REDS . Excavate five feat dsep , eight feet , ten inches wide and of such length as is necessary to furnish 1 1-3 cubic yard per person to be accomodated . Wall with hard brick laid in limo mortar one course thick to three fact , three inchos high on sides and ends , and a double course through f , the center , lengthwise . ( (lontinued ) Fill first filter beds with alternate layers ( about ter, inches deep each) of coke and cinders to top . Fill socond bed likewise with fine coke and cinders . Build well —holes in both beds as located on plan diagonally opposite the inl.ot in each bed ; well holes to have ir. ;:ersticos left in brick up half way and cemented ballance of way to top . Cover with substantial g flag stone lapping on center and side ,•alts . I SUMP . Excavate five feet in diameter and sevon feet ( at least) deep ; mall loosely with stone ; v4nli to be twelve inches thick . Cover with stone flagging. FILLING IN PLANT Conduct water from house sewer into septic tank terminating in an ell. . Take water out of septic tank by glazing line , beginning with an ell and running into filter bed No . 1 , Diagonally opposite this inlet in filter ' bed , place a brick well hole . Leave some bricks out of center -call between well—hole and second filter bed . From second filter bed conduct water out of well by means of a syphon constructed of glazed tiling , cemented at joints into sump . Syphon to rest on two bricks at bottom i of .well—hole and two rocks at bottom of sump , leavin an opening in both instances to allow of free flow of venter in syphon . Alljoints in tiling and where tiling passes through tank and filter beds to be thoroughly cemented ; allowing no cement to get into tiling joints . Cover beds and tank with dirt , rounded up , to allow for sinking . Section 2 . That any person or persons putting in a septic tank sewerage system upon his or their own premises , or who shall connect - to any sewer district constructed according to the specifications herein f � shall not be required to connect with , at his or their expense , any other sewerage system; for the term of 15 years from the passage of this ordinance . f Section, 3 , fie it further ordained that all ordinances in con u flict with this ordinance be , and the same aro hereby repealed and this ordi t; a • nammce shall be in force from and after the date of its publication .
