Section 2: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby approves a budget adjustment, a copy of which is attached to this Resolution. BACKGROUND: The U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance have announced the 2025 JAG for local agencies. This allocation of grant funds is a formula grant based on population and violent crime rates. JAG funding has been allocated to Fayetteville, Springdale, and Washington County to share, and this grant does not require local matching funds. DISCUSSION: The Fayetteville Police Department will be the fiduciary agency for this grant in the amount of $85,307. Under the JAG formula, Fayetteville is allocated $37,762, which will be used specifically for law enforcement training. Additionally, as part of this grant, Springdale will receive $36,647 to purchase law enforcement equipment, supplies, and training, while Washington County will be allocated $10,898 for law enforcement supplies. Please refer to the attached program and budget narratives for detailed descriptions of the training, equipment, and supplies planned for purchase using these grant funds. BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT: This grant does not require local matching funds and has no impact on staffing levels.
