CITY COUNCIL MEMO
2026-2333
MEETING OF AUGUST 4, 2026
TO:Mayor Rawn and City Council
THROUGH:Keith Macedo, Chief of Staff
FROM:Tim Nyander, Utilities Director
SUBJECT:— OPW Commercial Services of Arkansas, LLC Amendment No. 1 for Fire Hydrant
Painting Services
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of Amendment No. 1 to the contract with OPW Commercial Services of Arkansas,
LLC for additional fire hydrant painting services in the amount of $47,000.00.
BACKGROUND:
On February 3, 2026, City Council awarded Bid 25-54 and authorized a contract with OPW Commercial
Services of Arkansas, LLC (OPW) in the amount of $47,000.00 for the painting of approximately 1,000 fire
hydrants in Fayetteville's water service area.
OPW has indicated its willingness to paint an additional approximately 1,000 fire hydrants for the same unit
price and both the City and OPW desire to amend the contract to provide for this additional scope of work.
DISCUSSION:
The additional 1,000 fire hydrants would be painted at the cost of $47,000.00, for a total cost of $94,000.00 for
the painting of approximately 2,000 fire hydrants. The same contract terms would apply for the additional
scope of work. Exhibit A is attached to the proposed contract amendment showing the approximate hydrant
locations.
Staff recommends approval of Amendment No. 1 in the amount of $47,000.00 to allow for an additional 1,000
fire hydrants to be painted by OPW.
BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT:
Funds are available in the Contract Services account within the Water & Sewer fund.
