A RESOLUTION REQUESTING WASHINGTON COUNTY TO
PROVIDE THE CITY WITH THE REAPPRAISAL FIGURES
NECESSARY TO DETERMINE WHETHER AND HOW MUCH
THE CITY'S MILLAGE RATE SHOULD BE ROLLED BACK TO
COMPLY WITH AMENDMENT 59.
WHEREAS,the Arkansas Assessment Coordination Department certified on November 4,
1997, that Washington County had completed a comprehensive county-wide reappraisal.
WHEREAS, such certification should probably trigger the implementation of Amendment
59 of the Arkansas Constitution to rollback the millage tax (one mil) charged by the City of
Fayetteville so that the property tax received is not increased more than 10% annually excluding the
value of new construction.
WHEREAS,the City lacks the necessary information to determine whether and how much
our millage should be reduced,but this information should be known or ascertainable by Washington
County.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF FAYETTEVILLE,ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the City Council hereby requests that Washington County promptly
provide the City with the reappraisal figures necessary to determine whether and how much the
City's millage rate should be rolled back to comply with Amendment 59.
