A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE 1997 MILLAGE
CONTINUATION CAMPAIGN AND ENCOURAGING
FAYETTEVILLE RESIDENTS TO VOTE FOR THE
CONTINUATION OF THE MILLAGE ON TUESDAY,
SEPTEMBER 16, 1997.
WHEREAS, Fayetteville residents have shown their strong support for public education for
almost 130 years; and
WHEREAS, Fayeffeville's excellent public education syStem is vital to our City's continued
economic health.
WHEREAS, Fayetteville School District has grown by an average of 200 new students each
year since 1983; and
WHEREAS, Students and teachers in the Fayetteville School District are annually recognized
for their excellence in the classroom by regional and national organizations; and
WHEREAS, The millage continuation proposed by the Fayetteville Board of Education will
not only enable the school district to construct two new middle schools and renovate the eight older
elementary schools, but it will do so with no increase in property tax rates;
WHEREAS, all the money raised by the continuation of the three mills for construction will
remain here to improve our local schools.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKAITTSAS :
Section '1. That the City Council hereby endorses the 1997 Millage Continuation
Campaign and encourages all Fayetteville residents to vote for continuation of the millage on
Tuesday, September 16, 1997 .
