BACKGROUND: Emerald ash borer is an invasive insect that specifically targets ash trees. Once a tree is infested, it has a 100% mortality rate. Fortunately, this is a treatable condition using trunk injections — similar to an IV treatment — where chemicals are injected directly into the tree. We plan to treat only the large, high-value ash trees. DISCUSSION: Sealed bids in accordance with State statutes, City Ordinances, and purchasing procedures were publicly read and the results are attached to this memo. BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT: Funds for the acquisition of materials and services have been budgeted in the Forestry and Outreach project within the Sales Tax Capital Improvements Fund. ATTACHMENTS: 3.
