Dear Mayor Rawn and Members of the Fayetteville City Council,
We are writing to express our strong support for the parking ordinance recently sponsored by Council
Members Mike Wiederkehr and Teresa Turk.
Parking is already a significant challenge in downtown Fayetteville, where limited space and increasing
demand often leave residents, business owners, and visitors competing for spots. The influx of additional cars
from new developments only worsens congestion, strains infrastructure, and diminishes the accessibility and
charm that make downtown a vibrant hub and our city’s driving economic force.
Council Members Wiederkehr and Turk’s parking proposal is an important step toward putting decision
making back into the hands of the City Council — allowing our community elected members to thoughtfully
decide how we want to grow, rather than leaving critical issues like parking and density to be dictated by
developers' interests and outdated ordinances.
We appreciate the Council's attention to this issue and urge you to support new and updated parking
requirements for developers.
Thank you for your leadership and commitment to building a Fayetteville we can be proud to call home.
Respectfully,
Claire and Mark Kolberg - Ward 2 Residents
JT and Lisa Huff - Ward 1 Residents
Kamie Meeks Stone - Ward 2 Resident
Allison and TJ Weiss - Ward 3 Residents
Amber and Bill Deitrich - Ward 2 Residents
