HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-10-17 - Minutes -Meeting:Neighborhood Interest Forum Date:October 17, 2019 Location:City Hall, Room 219 Attendants:Will Dockery, Lisa Orton, Robin Devine, Lucas Regnier, Donna Daniels, Rick McKinney, Sarah Harrell Will Dockery called the meeting to order at 5:31 pm. 1.Minutes from 09/19/19 were approved. 2.Membership discussion a.Rules (rules passed unanimously) i.No more than 3 members per ward ii.Three absences with no communication will result in removal from the board iii.Open to all Fayetteville residents iv.Officers will serve a term of 1 year b.Membership Make-up i.Try to bring in variety of residents regardless of housing status ii.Try to bring in members from all wards 3.Neighborhood News Roundtable a.From Rick McKinney i.Drainage is an issue in the Scull Creek area. Recent rainfall pushed rats out of the woods. ii.Deer still a nuisance - recent count showed 48 herds at Mt. Sequoyah iii.Still seeing “backpack” theft - one lady had the cable on her bike cut and her bike stolen. iv.Some of the older neighborhoods could use better lighting v.Seeing issues of people parking on sidewalks b.From Donna Daniels i.School traffic flow on the east side still an issue ii.Appears to be an increase in crime along Salem and Wedington c.From Lisa Orton i.Has received emails about issues from people in her area asking what can be done ii.NIF group discussed the extent of our responsibility in resolving issues that are handled by other city groups. It was decided that we would provide the contact information or other guidelines for the person to use to follow up on their issue. We won’t follow up for them. d.From Will Dockery i.Upcoming Raven development will bring in more traffic ii.Gas station possible on the corner of Mt. Comfort e.From Robin Devine i.Her neighborhood was rezoned a year ago and development has been welcomed within the guidelines established during rezoning ii.Was unable to access the city survey for water run-off. Will said that the third round should be opening for input soon iii.Roundabout at Beechwood not yet fully open but appears to be too small for big rigs iv.Due to a work conflict, she will be resigning her position on the board f.From Lucas Regnier i.Improvements on Old Wire are almost done ii.Working on protected crosswalks iii.The area is well lit, including the broad trail iv.Curious about the future of Rolling HIlls 1.Armadillos were part of a traffic test and should be coming out soon 4.General Discussion a.Driveway ordinance - new construction driveways have of a minimum of 10 ft up to 20% of lot. Garages can face the street but can’t block the front door. b.Entertainment District - tabled indefinitely c.Historic Preservation Ordinance - meeting was in session at the same time. No zoning regulations previously, just Historic in name. Rick is following up on this. d.Parking by historic train station 5.Committee Business a.Next meeting is scheduled for November 21, 5:30 pm, room 219. b.Agenda for November i.Discuss strategies to get information about meetings to increase attendance (Stacy from NWA Gazette) ii.Sustainability - Lisa O iii.Discuss town hall type meetings once a quarter.
