BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE,ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby amends
§33.240: Purposes and Duties of Article XI: Environmental Action Committee of Chapter
33: Departments, Boards, Commissions, and Authorities of the Code of Fayetteville,to add a
new subsection(C)to the section which shall read as follows:
"(C) The Environmental Action Committee may coordinate all City
efforts to obtain and maintain an annual community wildlife habitat
designation through the National Wildlife Federation subject to City
Council approval."

earning a minimum of 40 points per year.

Earning Points Toward Certification
Once your Community Wildlife Habitat project is registered, you can start earning the points
you'll need to become officially certified. Your team can do this by getting out into your
community, educating your neighbors, certifying habitats and organizing community projects.
Some projects or habitat certification points earned before registration may also be counted.
Please check with your NWF contact.
How many points do you need to certify? The number of points you'll need depends on how
big your community is.

How do you earn points?
When you submitted the registration form, you earned at least 40 points for your community.
The remainder of the points must be earned in the following four areas:
I. Habitat Certification Goals
There is a sliding scale for habitat certification points, based on population size.
✓ One point for each home, townhome, or apartment.
✓ Three points for every public site, workplace, park, community garden, farm, place of
worship, or other common area.
✓ Five points for every Schoolyard Habitats site certified.
✓ Three, five or ten bonus points if each member of the Habitat Team certifies their yard
as a Certified Wildlife Habitat site, depending on the population of the community.
