I. Call to Order: S. Overbey called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm.
II. Roll Call
III. Minutes - Approval of minutes from October 21, 2024: R. Qualls moved to approve the
minutes. B. Park seconded the motion. All voted AYE. The motion passed.
IV. Reports
A. Key Upcoming Events: Pearl's Books Local Author Fair, Friends' Premium Holiday
Book Sale, Libraries are Handy — An Afternoon with Mercury Stardust, Andrew
Kilgore documentary "The 70's Through Andrew's Lens," and Mr. Troy's Holiday
Sing -a -long. In January, there will be a Human Library and Lunar New Year event.
B. Mission Moment: K. Lehman, Manager of Circulation, spoke about lesser -known
services such as notarizations, voter registration, Food for Fees Week, Fred
Rogers Sweater Drive, and the Ranger's Pantry pet food drive.
C. Library Administration
1. Informational
a. Act 372 update: The December 16-18 trial dates were postponed until
2025.

b. Early voting: FPL was an early voting site for 3 days in October, with 1,824
attendees. There is discussion about FPL becoming an election day voting
site.
c. Staff In -Service: November 7 was an all -staff training day. Service awards
were given to recognize milestones, followed by training to identify core
motivations and different communication styles.
d. Land lease agreement: Before the Hunt gift, the Foundation investigated
land lease possibilities on the south property. Moses Tucker is the broker
for future lease agreements, but the library will retain ownership of the
land. The goal is to turn the property into a revenue source.
e. Staff professional development: M. Taylor was elected Secretary of the
Arkansas Library Association Board. J. Curry will serve as Member at
Large on the same board. Facilities leadership attended the International
Sanitary Supply Association Conference.
f. New staff & recognition: 5 new hires - 1 LSG each in Youth and
Circulation, 1 Building Services Worker, and 2 Librarians in Reference
Services.
D. Fayetteville Public Library Foundation- monthly report: J. Hunt gave $2 million to
finish the Capital Campaign plus $100,000 to the Annual Fund. Giving Tuesday is
tomorrow, and year-end letters will be sent this week. A donor reception will be
held January 23, 2025.
E. Friends of the Fayetteville Public Library: The Friends Premium Holiday Booksale
will be -on December 14. Two new members joined the Friends Board: A. Lutsch
and B. Hollender.
V. New business
A. Discussion items
1. Approve 2025 Budget: S. Overbey stated that the staff were the lifeblood of
the library, and they would keep trying to find a way to help with salary
compensation. There was lengthy discussion about a 3% cost of living
adjustment that will be given to all staff in 2025. R. Qualls moved to accept
the Budget for 2025. B. Park seconded the motion. All voted AYE. The
motion passed.
VI. Public Comment: Public comment was given.
Adjournment: A. Wilbourn motioned to adjourn. B. Park seconded. The meeting adjourned at
5:24 pm.
