5083 2018 Alamo Ridgerunner RC
Mower 10.5 $32,011.20 Gravely OVIS 40 RC Mower Ariens Company Y Y
Unit 5083 is a remote control mower that has been very hard to keep in service for the Parks maintenance department. It has proven to be very
unreliable and a new reduced price alternative will be purchased in its place. Both Parks and Fleet Demoed a unit that proved to be better for the
harder to maintain surfaces of our Parks. This will be purchased from a Sourcewell Cooperative contract.
Park Operations has increased the park custodial staff and focused more on cleaning park amenities and frequently used park spaces. In order to do
this effectively, dedicated vehicles for our custodians are needed. We have been getting by with a 1/2 ton truck for one custodian and utilizing a 3/4
ton truck from another crew for our other custodian which has created a vehicle shortage within the division and is not the most efficient use of these
heavier duty trucks. This request is for a small, energy-efficient vehicle that can be utilized by our park custodian. The vehicle can be light duty, just
needing to transport staff and a few cleaning supplies. This will free up our heavier duty trucks, that are currently being utilized by our custodial staff,
to our other crews who need a heavier truck to haul trailers and payload. This small vehicle will help us provide good customer service to park users,
meet transportation needs, and also help meet the goals of the Climate Action Plan by utilizing energy efficient vehicles appropriate for the task.

This FY25 Expansion attachment for the Parks department will assist them with the over 115 miles of paved and soft surface trails. These trails are
heavily used by the public and our number one request from the public is to prune limbs and overgrowth away from the trail. We currently don't have
a piece of machinery that we can utilize for this and have to perform the work by hand which is very time consuming and taxing on personnel. This
attachment will fit our existing excavator and will expedite the process which will increase productivity and lessen complaints from trail users. This
equipment can also be used to safely trim ditches and steep slopes.
With our expanding trail system, currently at 57 miles of natural surface trails, we now have dedicated staff just performing soft surface trail
maintenance. This maintenance is required to keep our soft surface trails in a safe and rideable condition. The trails are extremely narrow and require
frequent repairs due to wash outs which requires moving dirt and rocks in a tight space. This piece of equipment is ideally suited to operate in these
conditions and is required to maintain soft surface trails. In addition, there are many instances within our park system, where a repair needs to be
made in a tight location where standard size equipment will not fit. This equipment can be utilized for many uses within the department.
