Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe. Good Morning, My wife and I are both disabled veterans. As a 100% disabled Veteran we are not subject to property taxes under state law. This new stormwater fee is based solely on the fact we own a home. Normally, such costs would be paid by property taxes. Unlike trash and recycling we receive no service for the proposed fee. In fact, for our house on Sabine Pass road we already pay an annual fee to our POA. This fee is used primarily to take care of the two storm water basins. I know for a fact that this is the case as I was on the POA board and the only real expense we had was for the maintenance and upkeep of the basins and liability insurance for the basins. Will Veterans exempt under State law be Exempt from this fee? If not, why? It seems a bit wrong to do what is a tax by calling it a fee. This seems to be an attempt to circumvent state law by calling a Tax a Fee. Answers before this weeks meeting would be appreciated very much appreciated. Regards, Tom Guarino 1
