Urban Forestry Advisory Board Meeting

1. Call to Order -
a. Roll Call
2. Approval of Meeting Minutes -
a. The minutes are Video Archived. The committee approved the motions for the previous month's
meeting. Set up additional presenters and brainstorm ideas for knowledge sharing for 2025. Or
do we want to change this up? It doesn’t have to be a plant; it could be a code, a case study,
etc. The goal here is to share
i. Woody Plant of the Month -
1. November- Tas Zinck
2. December- Bethany Douglas
3. Urban Forestry Management Plan Status and Discussion
a. Public feedback on the UFMP
b. The City Council will vote on November 7 to approve/deny the final plan—Update. They stated
they would table due to the long agenda and needed more time to read the document at the
agenda session.
4. Development Projects – Project to discuss
5. Programs-
a. Fall Programs-
i. Symbols Day – Follow Up- Thoughts from Jim and Carlo. Is the activity ok?
ii. POA tree plantings—I gave away 200 + trees directly to neighborhoods.
iii. Celebration of trees – Follow up on ways to improve and what we need to add.
iv. Residents have been interested in getting involved with tree plantings. Should
we revitalize ‘Neighborwoods’ or an equivalent? How to engage locally? Also, is there a
way residents can report tree easement concerns other than Code Compliance?
v. FPS – how do we ensure they are meeting their concessions on the new easements?
vi. POA tree planting. Tree walks

What is the anticipated date of plantings?
i. Greathouse Park Parking lot - Plans are done
ii. Shiloh and W. Point St- Plans are done
iii. Fire Station 6. Plans are done

iv. Carriage Way- Plans are done
v. Mtn. Ranch Green Space – plans are done
vi. Kitty Creek Trail – Plans are done
vii. East Madison Drive – Plans are done
b. Donation Trees -
i. I have five donation trees that need to be planted in the fall.
ii. Two at Washington Elementary have died already.
iii. Potential for collaboration for tree planting.
