Council Members, I am writing to express strong support of RZN-2024-0040 2400 E Township St. I lived for a couple of years in the Houston Heights neighborhood in Houston, TX. It was very walkable. You could walk to neighborhood restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. Even within a city of millions of people we would see our neighbors out to dinner or grabbing a coffee. The walkability really cut down on our reliability on using a car on the weekends, and also fostered a strong sense of community. Which in a city as large as Houston seems unlikely, but having neighborhood establishments makes it possible. Ever since moving here, my husband and I have dreamed of a restaurant or coffeehouse that is within walking distance of our home and also Gulley Park. My family and I would be frequent visitors of a restaurant or coffee shop at that location. Especially after being at Gulley Park half the day! I think the success that the Airship at the Pump House and Airship at Coler in Bentonville show how people today are really wanting more food establishments and amenities that they can walk or bike to. As well as being near the parks. It is great for a sense of community, for health, and for the environment. So please vote YES on this rezone. Thank you for your time, Christin Puzz 1
