Bob Stafford and Lara Hightower were absent. Approval of Meeting Agenda (6:01) • Motion to approve agenda by Chloe Bell, approved Approval of the April 17 Minutes (6:01) • The July 17th minutes were reviewed and approved. Work Plan Report—Joanna Bell (6:05) • Joanna Bell updated the council on Weekend Starts continuation until October. • The council’s recommendation for the community art wall will be presented in front of City Council on September 3rd at 5:30. • Joanna Bell present the council with the Gulley Park Art Market economic impact survey • The overall sales for the season was $25000 • The vendor survey said almost all participants would prefer no vendor fee • There was a need for marketing improvements. • Chloe Bell informed that the GP Art Market sales are similar to First Thursday vendor sales. • Joanna Bell updated on Bryan Alexis YRCC container mural. The container unit mural was taken from inspiration from students at YRCC and then will be converted into a mural on the YRCC building. The plan for installment will be in the 1st quarter of 2025. • Joanna bell informed the council that the Red Ball project will come to Fayetteville on September 13th from 11am-6pm in the Art Court. Arts and Culture plan update—Joanna Bell (6:22) • Joanna bell updated the Arts and Culture plan with the survey findings. • The next steps will be the arts and culture plan draft and for City Council to adopt and execute. • The council discussed their role once the plan was drafted. Proposal Reviews/Discussion: (6:37) • Joanna Bell updated the council on the Nelson Hackett Mural • The council was asked to decide which direction should the next mural be on and should the themes of the Joell mural continue? • The council discussed keeping the previous theme • Joanna Bell informed the council of the Kilo family donation proposal. • A sculpture donated to be placed in the civic plaza; however, the construction would necessitate a change of location within a short radius from the university campus. • The council discussed location options and if they should accept. • A motion by Emily Miller to table the sculpture discussion until next Arts Council meeting. 2nd by Abigail Hill. The motion was approved. • Notes from the Field/Opportunities/Current Calls for Artists (7:00) • Joanna Bell informed the council on the call for photos for the upper ramble displaying history of entertainment from the area. The application open September 1st and closes October 1st. The subcommittee chaired by Amanda Reyer. • Chloe Bell informed about a panel on professional development for artists on September 10th and 11th. • Last First Thursday vendor application close this week. • Other Business and Public Comment • There were no attendees for public comment. The meeting was adjourned by Chloe Bell at 7:15
