PRECISION RESCUE (PURCHASE AGREEMENT):
A RESOLUTION TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE THE PURCHASE OF AMKUS
FIREFIGHTING RESCUE EQUIPMENT FROM PRECISION RESCUE IN THE AMOUNT OF $42,598.50 FOR
USE BY THE FAYETTEVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Fayetteville Fire Department uses Amkus brand hydraulic rescue tools on all fire apparatus; and
WHEREAS, it is not practical or feasible to bid because parts between different manufacturers are not interchangeable,
and because Precision Rescue is the only authorized dealer for the sales and service of Amkus Rescue Systems in the
state of Arkansas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,
ARKANSAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby determines an exceptional situation exists
in which competitive bidding is deemed not feasible or practical and therefore waives the requirements of formal
competitive bidding and authorizes the purchase of Amkus firefighting rescue equipment in the amount of $42,598.50
from Precision Rescue for use by the Fayetteville Fire Department.

SUBJECT: Approval of a bid waiver for the purchase of Amkus firefighting rescue equipment for
use by the Fayetteville Fire Department from Precision Rescue within approved
budget.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of a bid waiver for the purchase of Amkus firefighting rescue equipment for use by the Fayetteville
Fire Department from Precision Rescue within approved budget.
BACKGROUND:
The Fayetteville Fire Department uses Amkus brand hydraulic rescue tools on all of our apparatus. Keeping
with the same brand means we can utilize the same power units, hoses, tool parts and battery types since
parts between different manufacturers are not interchangeable. For this reason, it is not practical or feasible
to bid since Precision Rescue is the only local authorized maintenance/ warranty provider for Amkus rescue
equipment.
DISCUSSION:
By keeping with Amkus, we can use Precision Rescue to do all of the maintenance on the rescue tools and
any repairs are done quickly. If any units are going to be down, loaner equipment is available from them as
well to ensure we keep rescue tools in service.
BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT:
Funds exist in the Capital Improvement Project, Firefighting Safety Equipment, Project #16002.1. The initial
purchase is $42,598.50. Any additional purchases will be within approved budget.
