All items below fall into this or other categories.** August 2024 Equipment Committee Unit 9252 has been experiencing continuous maintenance issues, despite repairs the unit does not perform well and has proven to be unreliable for frontline use in milling and paving operations or general city wide sweeping operations. A new unit will be purchased that has been demoed and performs the mission of Transportation much better. The only reason FASTER points are low is due to having low miles. Throughout its life from service in-date till current it has only provided 66.17% availability. Fleet and industry goals should be closer to 95% month over month based on normal scheduled working hours. Unit 377 currently has 15/15 points and 127,000 miles and is experiencing a engine knock and transmission performance codes. The unit is no longer capable of front line service for the Water and Sewer Department. The difference in collections will be made up by the sale of the unit. This vehicle was budgeted for FY24, but due to the rising cost of work trucks with the additional required upfit it exceeds both what was budgeted and collected. Additionally it has over 13,000 hours on the powertrain, which is equivalent to over 400,000 miles on the engine. Truck number 2283 was brought to City Council last year replacing truck #2160. Transportation would like to purchase unit 2160 and make it into a "u" unit. The purchase price would be $3,392.00, the unit currently has 170,000 miles. Traffic a Division within Transportation, has had some evolution in workload creating an additional need for a second work truck. If Equipment Committee approves, Fleet Operations recommends this unit be replaced within a year with an expansion unit and 2160 go to surplus after that.
