SHORT-TERM RENTAL ENFORCEMENT (TEMPORARY POSITION REQUEST):
A RESOLUTION TO APPROVE A BUDGET ADJUSTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $41,622.00 TO FUND A
TEMPORARY SHORT-TERM RENTAL ENFORCEMENT POSITION
WHEREAS, on May 21, 2024, the City Council passed Resolution 142-24 to create a six-month temporary position in
the Development Services Department for the proactive enforcement of Fayetteville's short-term rental ordinances; and
WHEREAS, the job description for the short-term rental enforcement position has been finalized and a budget
adjustment is needed to fund the position.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,
ARKANSAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby approves a budget adjustment, a copy of
which is attached to this Resolution, in the amount of $41,622.00 to fund the temporary short-term rental enforcement
position in the Development Services Department.

City staff recommend approval of a budget adjustment for a six-month temporary position in the Development
Services Department for proactive short-term rental enforcement
BACKGROUND:
At their May 21, 2024 meeting, City Council approved a resolution (142-24) to create a temporary position for
the proactive enforcement of Fayetteville's short-term rental ordinances. Staff subsequently finalized the
position description, confirmed its grading, and developed the attached budget adjustment.
DISCUSSION:
If approved, the position will be posted for hire. Recent trends in unlicensed listings indicate increased activity
that correlates with the beginning of the University of Arkansas school year and its associated sports calendar.
Staff strives to be prepared for this timing.
BUDGET/STAFF IMPACT:
This position will be paid for out of the General Fund with an estimated cost of $41,622.
