In regard to rezoning appeal RZN-2024-0029 at the nearby property, 3179 N. Old Wire Rd.
I would like to record my opposition to this matter. The proposal seems to be unreasonable at this time for three
primary reasons: the first being the e?ect on tra?ic, the second being current water resources, how it fits into the
surrounding community.
My address is in Savannah Estates on Natchez Trace and almost every morning I am faced with tra?ic build up as I
attempt to get on Highway 265/Crossover from Old Wire/Skillern. Currently tra?ic can be backed up past
Brookbury Crossing and frequently almost to Charleston Crossing. Adding this many additional units will serve as
to overwhelm the intersection and cause additional delays and accidents as cars from Old Wire try to force their
way through the intersection with Skillern.
It also seems unreasonable to add additional housing when the are is on water rationing every summer if not more
frequently. It was in the newspaper where the city is considering methods to enforce the water restrictions in the
area. While the map included in the paper lacked street labels, making it di?icult to determine exactly where the
boundaries were, this area is either included or extremely close. If rationing is necessary for the current
neighborhoods, how can increasing the number of homes make any sense at this time?
My overall impression is that this type of housing does not match the surrounding communities in the area. Most
of the homes are on larger lots with distance between the houses. This proposal seems to violate every one of the
reasons people locate in this area. I understand that Fayetteville is emphasizing more housing with higher
densities and lower prices but they growth needs to fit in with the communities already existing in the area.
Thank you for the ability to post an opinion on the subject and hope that the appeal is once again denied.
