Good morning Councilmember Stafford, I'm reaching out to follow up on a call I left the other day, encouraging you to vote YES on Councilmember Moore's upcoming resolution to express municipal support for a ceasefire in Palestine. For the past 6 weeks, I have been calling our federal representatives (Cotton, Boozeman, and Womack) daily to encourage them to advocate for a ceasefire and vote against federal aid packages that send our taxpayer funding to Israel while there is clear evidence of IDF operations in Palestine falling into the category of genocide and criminal warfare. Senator Cotton's aides have told me that the 20-or-so calls that they receive each day are all either strongly in support of ceasefire or take a moderate, middle-ground position. Despite the clear majority opinion of their constituency, we see the federal government continue month after month to fund and arm this genocide. The proposed Resolution (2024-54) will "call upon our national leaders to do everything in their power to end this crisis, supply humanitarian aid, and begin the process for peaceful, sustainable solutions." We need your support to expand the call to our federal representatives, who continue to vote against the urgent concerns of American taxpayers.
