Urban Forestry Advisory Board Meeting
May 1, 2024

1. Call to Order:
a. Roll Call
2. Approval of Meeting Minutes—The minutes are Video Archived. The committee approved the
motions for the previous month's meeting.

3. Urban Forestry Management Plan Status and Discussion—We hired Brittany Phillips Design to
review the plan, make edits, format it better, and improve it overall.
a. Overall time line and road map for implementation- We need more visibility on the
management plan
4. Development Projects – Element Ph 5--
a. PPl-2024-0003 (Native natural habitat preservation)
b. Summit Place Terrace
5. Spring Programs-
a. Hiking with Forester –The next one is on May 8th at 6 pm. Gregory Park. 69 East
Sycamore St
b. Invasive bounty: We have Completed 72 participants, up from 62 last year. Participants
wanted mostly shrubs; fewer people wanted the big trees.
c. Amazing Tree – I need to order a plaque and place it on a cool stone nearby.
d. Earth Day – What went well, what to improve for next year
i. Marion Orton Center - Saturday, April 20th
ii. BGO giveaway- Sunday, Earth Day at the BGO, 3-6 pm.
iii. BGO kids classes two days – We did one day with the kids
iv. We planted 6 trees at Washington Elementary School.
6. Code Changes – Follow Up and New status on changing Minimum sized lots. Melissa
a. To Hit minimums – Nothing from the staff.

b. Add Tree Preservation to the 1200-6000 sf rules – Staff is working on it for Planning
Commission review
c. Construction fines - Nothing new to report
d. How a code changes and moves through the city, general timeline,
7. 2024 Projects- Spring
a. Disc Golf Course – Meeting with sub to get started
b. Steamboat Lane- It should be started anytime
c. Lewis Park. – Gas lines.
d. New Site- Fall is having trouble getting to the plans for this.
e. Pilot program- HOA
f. Donation Trees: four are planted. Three are for Richard Campbell and one is for Richard
Price.
